Our Vision.

The vision for Angel Eyes NI is for all children and young people with a vision impairment to have equal access to education. Therefore, it is necessary we bring to light the distinct challenges experienced by you as parents and families and to share these with organisations engaged with safeguarding the rights of children and promoting opportunity.

Vision impairment is a low incidence disability, and a discrete group under the SEN & disability banner, which is why it is important to capture your voice and ensure it is heard.

We have supported over 500 parents and carers through our Education Advocacy service, with knowledge, understanding and confidence in education; enabling them to navigate the education system and helping improve outcomes for their children.  This continues to be our most sought-after service, with families reporting this as their major concern for their children.

Here is a link to podcast Karen did in collaboration with The Equality Commission for Northern Ireland, ‘Equality Legislation - Disability discrimination in education: how does the law need to change?’

In this podcast Karen speaks about her work to help children with visual impairments achieve their full potential in school and the role of auxiliary aids and services and the difference they can make.
