“I really loved this topic and learning more about the different way’s classwork/materials can be adapted. I found all the extra videos very helpful as they really made you think about how best to support your child with vision impairment.”
Training is essential to raising awareness and improving professional competencies in supporting children with vision impairment in education.
Angel Eyes strongly advocates that everyone involved with the educational experience of a child with vision impairment avail of training opportunities. Learners with vision impairment have the same potential to attain and achieve as other pupils, if provided with an appropriate level of support and access to the curriculum.
A collaborative educational initiative by Angel Eyes NI and Ulster University has developed a new programme for Classroom Assistants (CAs) supporting children with Vision Impairments.
This funded 10-week Level 4 University accredited programme uses blended learning and includes online learning and workshops. The topics covered include ‘VI and education’, ‘assistive technology’, ‘supporting the independent learner’, ‘adapting learning materials’ and ‘modifications for the learning environment’.
Please note, there is a waiting list for this training.

I learnt so much from the VR session. It was an amazing experience. I would be very keen for my son’s school to experience this to increase their understanding and learn strategies to best support him. Thank you.
